so yeah. wiš'adel is gonna be here at some point, wherever "here" is, to chill. to vibe. to make sure he's alive after everyone freaked about what looked like a minor injury to her!! weirdos!!]

he glances in her general direction, and after a moment, if she doesn't say anything, he says in a kind of amused tone: ]

[she huffs, tail swishing, as she settles in.]

Oh, they were all losing their minds about it. It was a real pain to listen to.

What does being 'mara-struck' do to you?

It's a disease.

Denizens of the Xianzhou Alliance are long lived. Foxians often do not reach the age it takes to become mara-struck - our internal organs shut down long before that.

But for the others... mara often inflicts victims with inexplicable bloodlust and violent tendencies. The brain can no longer store any more memories. Only the most vivid and extreme memories remain, which usually consist of negative emotions. Regret, grief... or extreme pain, most typically.

It manifests differently in different people. Some go insane. Some struggle to hold onto their sense of self before finally letting the vines take them.

[ oh, wild. okay, well - he squints at her arm from where he's sitting, ears laying back a bit. ]

Infected with what? [ this is the healer in him sneaking out. ]

Is it similar to being mara-struck?

Not really. We don't get it from long life or anything, we get it from exposure to Originium or to Infected blood. Or dying Infected, if you're really unlucky.

[her tail swishes a little as she explains.]

Throwing up blood's when you know you've got it for sure. You're fucked as soon as that happens-- no need to go get checked. Then you get these.

[a gesture to her crystalline growths.]

They say it's mostly in the blood and organs and whatever, but eventually, it'll probably take out this arm.

... And there's no cure?

[ frowning so very much at this, actually. ]

No cure. We have suppressants, but that's it.

[fried]

[ silence, for a moment. ]
