[one more solid smack, before she comes to flop next to him. her knuckles are raw; she doesn't care.]

[ a beat, and he holds out his hands for hers. let him see. ]

It doesn't have to be like this. I don't understand why they hunted him like a dog.

[she lets him take her hands, that's fine. gives paws.]

They said they used the truth-telling stuff on him. Laurence's. But I guess they didn't think through how forcing the truth out of him was going to corner him.

It's shortsighted, and rash, again.

Will this be how it's going to be for the rest of the time we're here? Will we just be held to the whims of people who decide to take things into their own hands, without talking to the rest of us?

Not a single one of us got to say goodbye.

[sarkazm]

...yeah.

[and she still remembers how it stung with theresa. she never said goodbye. she couldn't... she remembers so many things that don't matter, but before meeting her again? wis'adel couldn't recall what they had last spoken about.

I don't-- remember what the last conversation we had was.

[ his ears pin back. misery. ]

The last conversation I had with him was about whether or not I regretted befriending the people here.

[sarkazm]

Did he say anything about whether he did?

[fried]

No. [ ... ] He didn't talk about himself to me, much.

[sarkazm]

...yeah, sounds like him, all right.

[a little touch of something fonder.]

He's so secretive that I don't think he even notices he's doing it, half the time. I asked him if what he told me about himself would be accurate-- he said he's capable of telling the truth, then got a little flustered when I pointed out he was dodging around just saying that he'd be honest.

[fried]

[ i think that the emotion here is kind of just. dull. he's not even really sad or void or anything about it, he's just off. ]

Mm. That sounds about right, yes.

[sarkazm]

[taking one of his hands and just. squeezing it a little bit. c'mon, earth to jiaoqiu.]

I'm probably gonna write and yell at him a little later.

[ he holds it just fine, but it's kind of like trying to get an old car to start, emotion wise. ]

[ a pause, and then: ]

If I'm the only one, vote for me. But if I'm one of two, and you know the identity of the other, give me a moment to say goodbye, and then you can run me through, if you'd like.

[sarkazm]

...all right. Straightforward enough!

[what she doesn't say is-- if he's lost his mind, she's seen enough of him that she thinks she can handle it. she'll be prepared for whatever he can throw at her; wis'adel keeps to herself that she knows better than to let her guard down just because he can't see, just because he's frailer.

there'll be a knife in her back if she gives him the chance, so she won't.]

[ she knows him well enough to know that he would indeed be a sneaky shit about it, so - he trusts her.

silence, for a moment. ]

What about you, Wis'adel? What should I do, if I suspect you.

[sarkazm]

... I don't want it to have to be you.

[she says, with a little shake of her head. not him, after everything.]

So just tell 'em. Let me fight. I don't care if I go through that whole mess-- I'd rather look at it and see what's coming than get a knife in my back.

[fried]

[ he just. pulls her a little closer so he can sidehug her for a bit. ]

Alright. [ misery, misery, misery, but - yeah. okay. he can do that for her. ]

[sarkazm]

...sorry. I know there's no good answers for this, doc.

[she lets an arm settle around him, tail curled in his, but with that misery, she just can't work up any helpful emotions.]

If you can't expose me to all of 'em, then tell Anders. He'll probably say it.
