[Poor girl indeed. He sits inert, tracing the stem of the bottle with one thumb.]
She was with us, you know. A dozen people, give or take, stuck in the fucking showers all night, door locked. I thought maybe there was a bolt jammed, or a...I don't know. Emergency shutdown. Especially when our phones weren't working.
I thought waiting it out was the smart move. Didn't try any harder for a way out. [He pauses. Bites at the inside of his lip, then kisses his teeth.] She was playing corny little games. Trying to lighten the mood.
[ he's not really one for physical comfort most times, but affection week means he rests a hand on richie's arm, watching him for a moment. ]
Marcoh mentioned there were a few of you there. [ ... ] That sounds like her. She was a rehabilitation worker in Hell, so she knew how to handle a tense situation.
[ a slow, weary sigh. ]
I don't know that I can accept she's dead, just yet. I'd like to see the body first, if there is one. But... if she is, we've lost a bright light.
[the way i continually fail to abuse affection week unless it's sad pizza party hours where everything is platonic, breaks keyboard. He doesn't move to reciprocate, but his head turns a little.]
...Yeah.
[Also flurry are you using Karlach's trauma trigger phrase against me now. I heard about that shit you asshole Camille talked to Astarion!!!]
I don't know that we can expect to hear the full story tomorrow, frankly. Or even later. Whether it's because the angels are also out of the loop, or...Christ on a bike, JQ. Doesn't it feel like she was set up to you?
[ i know i'm struggling even WITH affection week i miss cuddly characters dies
also c: ]
I hate to come to that conclusion, but... [ his ear flicks. ] All the doors locked, we were forcibly put to sleep, and Charlie, a known associate of Hell, was found dead in a place she must have traveled a great distance to get to. Charlie, who expressed to me that her Heaven was judgemental and disapproving of her. It's a little hard to believe that's coincidence.
[I mean richie is handsy but not necessarily cuddly. just annoying.
Also die]
Yeah. She told me, uh, they had a...wee culling situation.
[To put it lightly.]
I do wonder how much our angels are or aren't aware of. There was that message, seems like a mistake but it could easily be a purposeful slip. We don't have any other sources of information, so what else are we supposed to believe?
But then again, I don't get the sense they're enthused about how things are set up. Maybe what's going on is above their paygrade.
I don't know that it was so intentional. I won't discount your theory, of course, it could have been, but my general impression of our guardians is that they do genuinely want to see us succeed. [ ... ] I think this was unexpected.
But not too unexpected. There was an emergency protocol already in place. You don't have those if you're not expecting at least one catastrophic event.

Who is?
[He'll pat the sand next to him.]
Come sit, JQ. Unless you're on your way somewhere.
no subject
No, I have nowhere to be. [ ... ] Poor girl.
