it's fumkin noisy in here but he's doing his best! he seems to be doggedly playing one game in particular. it's a rhythm game, one of those taiko drum ones, and he seems like he's really concentrating, ears perked up and forward. is he perhaps trying to get a high score? maybe. it's not out of the question because he actually is doing pretty good, he's got near perfects on all of the notes. oh, also, he's wearing this.
in any case, he's very clearly not paying attention to anything around him so this is your chance to jumpscare the shit out of him if you'd like. ]
[ he was so in the zone that he actually does jump a little when he hears the whistle, hand coming up to his chest like he's a little old lady. he glances over in chrono's general direction. waugh. ]
-- Ah, you startled me. [ a beat. ] Hah. Thank you, though. Hello.
[ as requested, he leaves the church alongside jiaoqiu. the frantic ticking of his transformation's gears has slowed to a lethargic, almost sickly pace.
[ off they go, jiaoqiu walking slowly and carefully. he's a little transparent - literally, he's slightly see through. but that's fine, he doesn't care much about it. ]
This was a difficult decision for you. [ a little prompting, to see if chrono wants to talk. ]
I didn't know any of them well enough. The victims, the-- culprits. [ he can't say "killers", even though it had become obviously the truth. ] What right do I have to make a choice like that?
no he's just sunk half into one of the lobby couches picking at the hems of his sleeves. there's a book next to him, unopened. there's some serious redness to his eyes. ]
[ weeeeeeh buddy!! jiaoqiu is on his way to the kitchen when he sees this - and then he keeps walking.
but he'll be back a few minutes later, holding two cups of tea. carefully, he sits down next to chrono, and holds out one to him. he's all bandaged, today, but most of it is under his clothes so it's hard to see. also half his left ear is missing. ]
I don't mind. [ his tail shifts, and curls around chrono carefully, trying not to startle him. ] It isn't a competition, you're right. But I have seen much worse than this, and you are young. You deserve the support.
Zhongli and Elysia both would want me to check on you, in any case.
[ today, we are exploring the new area! he's most interested in the laboratory, which you can find him in, poking around in the chemicals and things. he seems a little preoccupied by the easy bake oven.
oh, also, he's way less injured today. his ear is still missing, but based on the way he's holding himself, he isn't in horrible pain. that's probably nice. ]
[ this is so funny because jiaoqiu is absolutely not good with dogs in the least, so when the puppy throws itself at chrono, jiaoqiu just deftly steps to the side and lets him be bowled over.
if it were emotionshare there might be some mischief there, but mostly, he's just like (: ]
[ you can catch, towards the end of the day, a little dreamscape being projected from a sleepy not balded fox. he is unbalded, now, but he's dozing off somewhere close by, probably sitting up.
which means what you see is the following:
a long street, illuminated by gentle lights and a starry sky. a foxian woman walks down this street, being followed by two men flanking her at either side. one of them, a tall man in a hood, does not seem to be able to relax, glancing around them at all angles, as if seeking an invisible enemy. the other man, a familiar pink foxian, fans himself gently as they walk, not paying attention to their surroundings at all. the woman is chattering at the both of them in an animated fashion, throwing her hands around, throwing her head back and laughing, reaching back to slap at the men following her in a jovial way. the tall hooded man hides a smile, and jiaoqiu, because of course that's who it is, outright laughs when the foxian woman turns to walk backwards to speak to them more insistently.
it sounds like she's trying to convince them to try out a new takeout place. come on, we've been out all day, we deserve a treat. jiaoqiu reaches to rap her gently with his fan, saying something about the cost, and she complains loudly about money not being a problem - who would charge her, anyway?
the world around them doesn't change. it's just locked in a moment - locked in something familiar, like home. ]
[ ah. like memshare week, it feels intrusive to be watching a scene like this. but there's something compelling - this glimpse of another beautiful world, seeing jiaoqiu in this context, comfortable and at home.
the woman... chrono remembers jiaoqiu talking about his general, quite some time back - ms. feixiao? they'd talked about stubborn women. he's very suddenly reminded of a very similar memory of home - tokoha walking afore them under the train bridge near the store, let's get hotpot!, shion laughing, himself smiling even as he protests with i wanna keep my head today, thanks.
the thought manifests. the edges seem to blend, as if the two trios may walk into each other.
[ it's nice. it's warm, is what it is, this dream of a memory. it's feixiao chattering about some game the three of them have been playing. beat your high score, didn't i, jiaoqiu? and he huffs, glancing at moze. from here, it looks like he can actually see.
haven't you beaten her high score a thousand times over, moze? jiaoqiu asks, impishly, and she nearly drops her phone to check. a beat, and then, pouting: moze! as said man neatly slides behind jiaoqiu to put him between the two of them.
she's waving her hands around, feixiao, not paying attention to where she's going. jiaoqiu scolds her, but it's gentle, with an affection he doesn't often show.
but whatever happens - should feixiao run into tokoha or shion, or they all just pass each other, chrono will see a chain around jiaoqiu's ankle. ]
